Superman WALKS!

He is really getting the hang of it now. He used to crawl over to something and pull up to stand next to it and then take a couple steps. Now, he just stands up in the middle of the floor and goes back to taking very definite, concentrated steps.

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things I’d Rather Be Doing Today, not that today is so horrible, but here are 13 things I'd still love to be doing.

1. I would love to have enough energy to do anything, ever. So assuming I had energy, I would rather be outside swimming with the boys. I think we are going to do that tomorrow anyway.

Ah, the Randomness

1. I am still working at the hotel, but hopefully soon, changes will be coming.

2. I am impatient that Nip/Tuck won't be starting the new season until October.

3. We are trying to feel like going for walks every night after Batman gets home from work.

4. I only have to work Thursday and Friday this week so maybe Batman and I can do a raid on WoW together for once.

5. I am reading the Harry Potter books. I am on the second one right now.

6. We don't have plans to go to Kansas again until Christmas. We have possibly some family coming up for Halloween and maybe Thanksgiving.

7. I can't believe its almost August and we have only gone swimming once. Poor Spiderman loves the water so much.

8. No idea what to cook for supper tonight after our walk.

9. Superman turned one 19 days ago. He is trying very slowly to walk. One of these days...

10. And a week ago I chopped about 6 inches of hair off my head. I tried to get a Posh cut, but it ended up longer than that thankfully cause I think I wouldn't have liked it that short.

I think that all these words pretty much describe me. They could describe several other people that aren't Taurens. However, instead of the word, inflexible...I prefer stubborn.

The Greek myth of the bull-form taken by Zeus in order to win himself another woman was always interesting to me. He transformed himself into a tame white bull and mixed in with her father's herds. Where have I been?!?!

Geez, it seems like I have been too busy to sit down very long. Summer does that to a lot of people I think.
We left at the end of June to go back to Kansas for Sister #1s wedding. Sisters #2&3 were very excited to get to see their nephews.
We had a full week with, Superman's first birthday party and bachelorette party, and bridal shower, and rehearsal dinner and the wedding. Not to mention the primping and preparing for the big wedding.

Well I can not believe that my little Superman is 1 already. He has such a fun personality now. He waves all the time. He does a little fake laugh when anyone starts laughing, and then when you laugh at him laughing, he just laughs harder. And the poor kid laughs like his mama. He has taken a few steps, but isn't quite ready for full on walking. I am sure he will just take off in a few days like its nothing.
Spiderman stayed in KS with family and won't be back until the 20th. Sure makes the house a bit more boring without him about. Superman keeps looking around for big brother and yelling his name but then has to settle with just mom and dad for entertainment. I can't believe that a year ago I became a mother to two boys. Its exhausting just thinking about it.

Well here is a slideshow of our summer so far and I am sure we will stay busy with outdoor activities and I hope to update you again soon. Maybe now that the wedding stuff is over with, I can concentrate on keeping up with the blogging.

Friday Feast

I am doing it on the day it is meant for this time. Just cause I really have nothing exciting to report. Except that it is getting closer to sister's wedding time. I picked up my bridesmaid dress Wednesday. And Batman and Spiderman got measured for their tuxes. Now we just need to find Superman a shorts tux for a 1 yr old.

I am making the bridal shower invitations myself and they look great so far. So cute, and pink.

I sleep late every day. Batman lets me sleep late in the quiet bedroom when he is off work. Its just so hard to get up on anyday, but he makes it easy to not get up, and I love that.

I called my sister and left a message and when she called me back, I had no idea why I called her in the first place. But I guess its okay to not have a reason. I think we eventually talked about what I called about. Probly wedding stuff.

This is only for days when Spiderman has school cause when he doesnt have school, I sleep til they wake me up.

Wake up just before alarm goes off. Ignore alarm. Lie there for about a half hour, then crawl out of bed and head for bathroom. Brush teeth and think about what to wear and what to dress the boys in. Make sure Batman is up and getting dressed. Get dressed and get out clothes for everyone else. Oh I bet this is really boring for you to read, so just move on to the next question. :P

I emailed Oprah once to complain about my parents, but never got a reply. I emailed Ellen DeGeneres to win something, but never got a reply on that either.

Happy Smartass Day

So on Wednesday I turned 25. Basically sweetly uneventful. Batman and I got to go to a great Steak restaurant and then we saw Premonition.
I thought it was an interesting movie. Batman of course was skeptical and ripped it apart. Totally confused me. LOL The boys were left at my friend's house so we had a nice child-free evening.
I got lots of cool birthday cards and Batman tried to get me a gift certificate for a massage, but he was confused about how many different kinds of massages there are, so he gave up and just told me I could schedule exactly what I wanted, where I wanted. Nice gesture, but he needs to work on having something exciting for me to unwrap next time. If he reads this I will probably find him wearing only a bow and a smartass response of "Well, you wanted something to unwrap..." Awesome.

Had a nice conversation with Spiderman today.

Me: what are you doing?
SpM: Looking for a snack. (Holding the refrigerator door open.)
Me: You're letting all the cold air out. (Happy to use the line of my father.)
SpM: Well I don't fit in the fridger-fridger so I have to stand out here and open the door MOM!
Me: (Choking back laughter.) Well hurry up and decide then and shut the door.

I think he may have rolled his eyes at me.
They grow up so fast.

Scrap pages I did recently.

Cushie Soft

We got our super soft new couch Friday. We're all about soft stuff these days.
The mattress is soft, the couch is soft, and the new spring grass outside is soft under the barefeet of the kids. I need to get a pic of that too.
But who wants to go outside when you have a soft new couch and mattress inside??

Now that its warm and nice and I get back on my synthroid, we have more motivation to get outside and play. I had all my scans and I do not have to have a 2 week vacation from the kids. In other words, I don't have to have radiation.
Tomorrow I may find out what is causing the pain in my parotid gland to stick around. I had my first CT on Friday morning. Pretty strange feeling. The IV of iodine gave me a warm crazy feeling even though it was only in for 3 minutes. *Relax, I'm only going to stick it in for a second.* :P

We went to the zoo last week too. It was lame and unimpressive.
Spiderman liked the bats, and the "Timon's" (meerkats).

Went and got haircuts for all of us but Superman today. Then some regular Sunday cleaning. I like the fact that I have cut my hours back at the hotel. More family time. Me likes. Soft and cuddly.

I better get some comments on this one.

I am slackin off huh?

Been busy busy. I work at the hotel second shift and first shift I babysit for the neighbors.
I have to learn a new way to control this other boy. And when he's around my kid, they fight and Spiderman gets hit and its just insane and stressful.

I am trying spring cleaning, bit by bit. I cleaned off the desks today. Man under all the clutter there was a lot of dust. Glad that's gone now. I also did mega laundry. I washed the down mattress cover and probably shouldn't have, but its over now.

Been going to doctor's appointments like mad. My calcium is low and my cholesterol is high. The pain in my cheek is not TMJ or an infection, but perhaps a problem with a salivary gland. Which is what I thought in the beginning. But they want to do an iodine CT, but that will have to wait til after my Total Body Scan which is now scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. I REALLY REALLY do not want to have to do another ablation. I have no where for the kids to stay this time.
So scans next week and CT the week after that I guess. Two more weeks of facial pain.

Went back to KS for Easter. Saw the hospitalized Grandpa's. Yes thats not one, but two. Mine had his other shoulder joint replaced and Batman's had a tumor removed from his lung.
Both are feeling better, as slowly as senior citizens can feel better.

Doing some thinking about gestational surrogacy. I am open to hearing your thoughts on this subject. Let's just say that I want to help a couple have their own baby, which they are unable to gestate on their own. I would not have to use my own egg or my husband's tadpoles. Payment would be sufficient as it can be for putting your body up for rent to grow another human for someone else. The feeling of giving some great people the baby they really, really want is priceless. Not to mention, paying off bills and getting out of debt and saving for our own kids college. Its like winning the lottery in 9 months. I know its a risk and it definitely won't happen if the C-bomb is still around. But I know I am pretty good at being pregnant. Batman won't have much fun. I do get sucky morning sickness and low sex drive. But at least he gets to look at some astonishing cleavage for a few months.
That's what's on my plate at the moment.
Going to StLouis this weekend for a scrapbook convention. Good times, can't wait. I want to try to sell some of my scrapbook stuff too. My sister and my stepmom want me to start a biz of doing albums for people. Lets see if I can sell these 90 housewarming cards that I made first.
Other than that, just work work, raising kids, and cleaning.
Oh and I love my husband.

Fail

So the FAFSA people say that in order to get financial aid for this semester for my online classes, I have to amend my 2005 taxes and get them done as Married. Since we were married on New Years Eve we were not married the majority of 2005 so we did our taxes as single. Now they say that won't work. WTF?

So FAFSA gets a Fail grade from me. I don't want to amend, so my only other option is to wait until July when I can use my 2006 taxes.

My job gets a Fail also. I always feel so stupid when my manager talks to me. I work at a hotel. The last hotel I worked at, I was told that it is a good thing if all our rooms or the majority had guaranteed reservations. But this guy wanted rooms not reserved, "in case" we have walk-ins. Now if guaranteed reservations don't show up and don't cancel, then we can charge the credit card they used to hold their room, AND we can sell the room to a walk-in and double the room rate we get. So the fact that I do everything the smart way, makes me dumb. GRRR! I am currently PT job hunting again, or totally awesome FT job hunting.

FAIL=Hayfever season. I think I sneezed 803 times yesterday. I was at work last night and only had those paper thin kleenex to absorb the least amount of snot possible. I used half the box. Today is only slightly better.

Pass=McDs happy meal toys. They have the Wizard of Oz dolls in them now. I love WoO so much, I need ALL these figurines. I got Dorothy and Glenda the Good witch already. Just need everything else. If you have doubles and want to send me some, I would allow it. :)

Pass=Not having to write my autobiography until July, I guess.

Pass=Caramel Macchiato and Low-fat Cinnamon Swirl Coffee cake from Starbucks.

Pass=My main toon on WoW hit level 70 on Sunday. With no help from Batman. Now for the uber lootage.

Pass/Fail

1. Randomness is my new theme. Its quick and I don't have to think of a whole topic to write about.

2. I am starting to take online classes on Monday to get my associates in Graphic Design. Not sure where I will go from there, just know that I want to be able to edit web pages and pictures.

3. My first classes are Skills for Learning in an Information Age, and Effective Persuasive Writing.

4. I already have my first assignment and that is to write my Autobiography.

5. I am hoping that I turn in my assignment to my Effective Persuasive Writing instructor and that he will tell me that I don't need to take that class. Pass.

6. My son is excitedly watching The Land Before Time. I am glad that he likes the same old movies that I liked when I was a kid.

7. I work 3 days this week, and 5 days next week.

8. My couch that we ordered and fully paid for is still not here. Why do furniture stores stock mainly white? Of course I ordered the awesome sectional in Cobblestone, aka, gray. They said 12 weeks for delivery. ARGH! I want it now!

9. My Warcraft character is now level 69 and 1/4. Almost to 70. Then I can go for Uber loot.

10. Anyone want to make up an autobiography for me. RAK awarded for best one. :P

Randomness

1. Went to the endocrinologist Thursday. He prescribed an antibiotic because he thinks my pain in my parotid gland may be caused by an infection. He also took blood and did a sonogram. Then he took me off my thyroid meds for 4 weeks until I have a scan. He put me on a different kind of thyroid hormone that won't interfere with the scan and hopefully make me not so hypothyroid.

2. My face hurts. Is it killing you?

3. My little Superman is 8 months old today. Somehow it doesnt seem like he should be that old yet. Superman is now really crawling and has begun to pull up a bit on the couch and coffeetable. He only gets to his knees though and hasn't lifted himself up to his feet yet, but he is still tall enough on his knees to pull everything off the table and the couch. Big brother has had to relocate his coloring area.

4. I am at work. I have had to work the last three weekends in a row.

5. On Friday, I got my washer and dryer and queen size mattress delivered.

6. Friday night, Batman and I went out to buy new sheets for our new mattress. We settled on jersey knit sheets for me and a fabulously soft down comforter for him. I love compromise. Especially when I like the end result.

7. I got to do laundry in my own house!!

8. We also got a new water heater put in on Friday. The long hot showers are sooo wonderful right now. But then my shower head holder broke, so I have to hold the showerhead the whole time.

9. Spiderman is loving preschool. The other day on the way home from school, he told Batman, "Red means stop and green means go and Yellow means take it slow." He is so funny. It will be a sad day when he grows out of saying, "FridgerFridger."

10. The time change sucks. I like sleep. I like to sleep a lot.

Tempro Mandibular Joint

I have this annoying pain in my left cheek. I went to my ear, nose, and throat doc and she thinks its TMJ or lockjaw. But I think not. It does NOT feel like my jaw in any way. I can open and close my mouth and there is no clicking or popping sounds and chewing and talking doesn't hurt. What makes the pain worse is when I put food in my mouth and saliva starts coming out. It feels like the gland right in front of my ear, over my jaw, and the gland right under my earlobe, are going to explode. And then if I manage to eat more than three bites, I get a very salty taste in my mouth about an hour later.

I am afraid that my cancer has spread to my salivary glands or maybe its just a blocked saliva duct or whatever you call it. In no way do I think its TMJ cause I had no precursors of this disorder, like a blow to the jaw or grinding or clenching of teeth. It just doesn't FEEL like that to me. I can clearly feel the difference in the glands on the left and right. The left feels swollen and hard. I am just aggravated that I paid to go see this doc cause I thought she would listen to me, but she just felt my neck and said, oh, its TMJ, here's a muscle relaxer.

The muscle relaxer she gave me doesn't even work. It makes my lower back feel better after a night of standing at the front desk at the hotel, but if I put a piece of candy in my mouth and don't even chew. It frickin hurts like the devil.

Plus side is that I have lost 5 lbs since Thursday when the pain started. Less than pre baby weight! Woo Hoo!

Anyway, I have an appointment with my endocrinologist Thursday (I guess thats today) at 3, so I will mention it to him and see what he thinks. The purpose of the visit to him is to schedule my next thyroid scan and see if we killed all the little buggers.
Why do you have to schedule and appointment to schedule a scan? Goodbye money....LOL

OK well everyone hope for no more cancer!!

Life is Good

I just wanted to say it.
There is a part of me that doesn't want to even acknowledge that "life is good" right now. Because in my life the bottom always drops out and I always expect it.
But this time it seems different.I just have a feeling that it will get even better.
That is not something I used to believe. What do I get when I don't want anything? Nothing.
It pays to have dreams. It pays to appreciate what you have while you have it instead of always looking at what could happen.

What I want, I know I will get. I'm not afraid of failure. I am not afraid of the future. I am not afraid to live. I have been thru tough stuff and survived, so life goes on.

Frickin Snow

Big crummy blizzard. Why can't it just snow on the grass? There are multiple 3 foot snow drifts in my driveway. I tried to shovel the first one for an hour and only knocked out half of it and made my arm sore in the process. Frick, Frick, Frick.

My baby boy Spiderman turns 4 on Monday. I guess that makes him not a baby. Hard to imagine that 4 years ago I was trying to have a baby. We are taking a trip back to Kansas this weekend to let the rest of the family see him for his birthday.

Also occurring this weekend is my first act as Maid of Honor for my sister's wedding. I get to pick out the bridesmaid dresses. The wedding is 7-07-07 and not much is ready. At least she has the dress so after that everything just falls into place right?

Well busy weekend ahead, so I am off to pack and feed Superman his babyfood. Hope for no more snow during our trip!!
